The dark and bright side of modern lifestyles...

the modern world we live in

In the societies we live in today, many things are not done the way they used to be done back in the days where technology was not present. For instance, today when a guy wants to ask a girl out he simply just asks for her facebook name, BBM pin, twitter account name or mxit details and asks her out on social networking sites, making it faster and easier for him to get an answer. For me as a girl I honestly think this has made the initiation stage of a relationship between a man and a woman rather boring….the excitement is no longer there and in a way makes us as girls of today seem cheap compared to girls back in the days because they made a guy sweat for days or even weeks before giving him his answer of whether she wants to date him or not.So in the swift moving world, the life style has changed a lot. As a coin has two sides, the modern life style has both a brighter (advantageous) and darker (disadvantageous) side to it.Here are some of the advantages and disadvantages of modern lifestyle.

Advantages:
  • Technology makes it easier for people around the world to communicate
  • Education has developed with the use of Internet
  • People meet and interact with different cultures and societies

Disadvantages:
·       Due to modern life style, culture and tradition is fading off
·       Technology has reduced the interaction between people
·       Environmental damages such as air pollution, water pollution and noise pollution.

To put all of this in a nut shell, modern ways have both a positive and negative side and in my point of view, I think modern life style is brighter but we have to think about how to use it properly without causing any damage to our lives and customs and in this blog I will be illustrating some of the challenges we encounter in modern life and how we can over come these challenges without turning our backs on tradition.

    1. That the social networking has changed our lifestyle, and made things easier but I think a little to easy. People do commit suicide because of online messages or images that were posted about them. And if we look now it is much easier accepting a guy through bbm fb and etc, some accept without knowing the guy, and that could be dangerous.

  4. Modern lifestyle has made life easy but also short because nowadays people do things not to lust, its like they do them for granted for example the love relationships that is found in social networks not all of us believe in it, but in a traditional way it can last forever until death do people apart.

  5. Modern lifestyle ways do help bring people together ,however there are possible negatives to this. Its just up to us as individuals wether we use it fr the good or bad and wether its to enhance our customs or destroy them.

  7. well this issue can be debated over and over again without any concrete conclusion. first le me say this: your are able to let us know of your thoughts because of technology, you are at university now because of technology(you were able to pass matric with high colours due to availability of resources). secondly; technology can be work to our advantage only if we allow it to for example, do you know that there people who are at university and yet still do not carry cellphones, not because they cant afford them but because they do not see the need for them. with the invention of technology there came a of disadvantages including unemployement(the machinery is taking/able to do a lot of man power. i can list a lot of facts about this topic but i dont have space and time but the most basic element in all this is the human mind...if you allow yourself to be influenced by it more it should then it will. remember; "you can, if you think you"

  8. Yeah I see your point. Modern ways can be both advantageous and disadvantages , depending on how we use them.

  9. Modern lifestyle and social network KILL our relationships nowadays......people chat instead of communicating face to face, fogetting that one can misread your texts which may lead to break downs of relationships.....while when talking face to face one may be able to read your body and facial expressions which reduces misunderstandings.

  12. Yes and break the communication barriers. If we don't our knowledge will definitely be limited to a certain degree.

  14. DISAGREE!!!
It amuses me how women expect the man to sweat for an extended period, JUST to meet you for a small period TO SEE WHETHER YOU TWO ARE right for each other.
A question: Whilst you tell that guy to wait for a few weeks, how many prospects are asking you out daily?
The mere fact that he asks you out means that he's interested, I fail to see why he must STILL JUMP THROUGH HOOPS without even meeting her for the 2nd time? He will value You? Why not value him by being straightforward: Either yes or no. We're not kids anymore
